Travel Industry Leaders Terry Jones, Roger Dow, Amir Eylon to speak at Nevada Governor’s Conference

Annual Conference to Shine a Spotlight on Innovation

CARSON CITY, Nev. — 2012-11-09 — /travelprnews.com/ — Travelocity.com founder Terry Jones, U.S. Travel Association (USTA) President and CEO Roger Dow, and Brand USA Vice President Amir Eylon will bring their insights and experience to the annual Nevada Governor’s Conference on Tourism, Tourism Director Claudia Vecchio announced.

“The focus of this year’s conference is innovation, and each of our speakers has been able to innovate in different ways,” Vecchio said. “This has been a benchmark year for the travel industry from national policy developments to the launch of the country’s first international marketing campaign.  The speakers at the conference have been at the forefront of shaping the industry on the international, national and local levels.”

Convening Dec. 4-5 at John Ascuaga’s Nugget in Sparks, the conference brings together industry leaders to share new ideas supporting tourism, Nevada’s primary economic engine, against the backdrop of a trade show that introduces some of the best tourism products in the nation to travel agents and tour operators.

“The tourism industry continues to show sustained growth across all sectors,” Gov. Brian Sandoval said. “This conference will be helpful in sharing best practices and strengthening collaboration among our partners.”

“From the keynotes to the mayoral roundtable to the break-out sessions on technology, international travel and more, the agenda is designed so participants can immediately return home and put ideas into action,” said Lt. Gov. Brian Krolicki, chairman of the Nevada Commission on Tourism.

Leading the USTA, Roger Dow was instrumental in creating the 2010 Travel Promotion Act, which established Brand USA, the first national marketing program committed to attracting international visitors to the United States, as well as shaping the 2012 National Travel & Tourism Strategy that resulted from the President’s Jan 19 Executive Order. Terry Jones started Travelocity.com, the first website to allow consumers to arrange travel without an agent, in 1996. He served as president and chief executive officer until 2002, and today is the chairman of Kayak.com, a travel metasearch engine. On behalf of Brand USA, Amir Eylon is responsible for developing partnerships, with a focus on creating and executing innovative, customized marketing solutions that deliver demonstrated value for strategic partners.

Early-bird registration for the Governor’s Conference on Tourism has been extended to Nov. 9 and is $225 through that date, $275 after. Walk-in registration is $375.
