The Pacific Asia Travel Association PATA announces extension of its strategic partnership with TripAdvisor

BANGKOK, 2014-8-27 — /Travel PR News/ — The Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) is pleased to announce the extension of its strategic partnership with TripAdvisor, the world’s largest travel site, offering trusted advice from real travellers and a wide variety of travel choices and planning features with seamless links to booking tools. TripAdvisor has the largest travel community in the world with over 60 million unique monthly visitors and sites in 30 countries worldwide.

The strategic partnership will facilitate further engagement on joint initiatives in publishing, research, surveys, events and advocacy. Most recently, TripAdvisor statistics were included in the recently released report on The Rise of the Young Asian Traveller, produced and published by PATA.  On aligned advocacy issues, PATA is also delighted to further work with Helena Egan as she moves into her new role on global advocacy at TripAdvisor.

Commenting on the announcement, PATA CEO Martin Craigs said, “Our strategic partnership with TripAdvisor benefits all our members and provides TripAdvisor with invaluable insight and access as it continues to expand its engagement across the Asia Pacific. This is a complementary partnership leveraging each other’s strengths as the travel world  becomes ever more digital, mobile and consumer direct. TripAdvisor assists PATA Next Gen to next generation in its mindset and activities. I am also particularly pleased to welcome Sarah Mathews to our Executive Board, adding much appreciated age, gender and ethnic diversity.”

Cindy Tan, Vice President of Display Advertising Sales for Asia Pacific, TripAdvisor, added, ““We are pleased to renew our partnership with PATA, a pivotal stakeholder in the Asia Pacific travel and tourism industry. Together, we will continue to bring valuable travel audience insights to PATA members and the wider travel community.”

At this year’s PATA Travel Mart (PTM) in Phnom Penh, Cambodia from September 17-19, TripAdvisor will be presenting at PTM Talks on Friday, September 19 at 1230-1245 hrs. PTM Talks is a new initiative from PATA, which involves a small seminar area within the PTM Networking Lounge for organisations to conduct 20-minute ‘power’ talks to PTM delegates. The PTM Talks will cover areas such as Branding and Selling Responsible Travel, Responsible Meetings and Events, Sustainable Tourism in Asia, and Social Media Marketing for Tourism.

Furthermore, in the next 12 months PATA has six other events that TripAdvisor will be invited to speak at.
