TAP’s Portuguese wines among the best served on the world’s leading airlines according to Global Traveler

TAP serves the best white and second-best red wine in its Executive Class, according to Global Traveler

Lisbon, Portugal, 2016-Aug-04 — /Travel PR News/ — The US magazine Global Traveler has classed two of the wines served in TAP Executive Class – Paulo Laureano Reserva 2014 and Churchill’s Estates Grande Reserva 2011 – as among the best wines served on the world’s leading airlines, confirming the quality of Portuguese wine.

Paulo Laureano Reserva 2014, from the Alentejo, was named “Best International Business Class White Wine”, while Churchill’s Estates Grande Reserva 2011, from the Douro, was awarded second place in the “Best International Business Class Red Wine” category.

This is one example of how TAP helps promote Portuguese products, particularly Portuguese wines, as they are consumed and appreciated on board by travellers from around the world.

Global Traveler announced the results of its 12th annual Wines on the Wing Airline Competition in the United States yesterday.

“The award now presented to TAP is a confirmation of the quality of wines served in Executive Class. The large panel of tasters who selected this and other wines had a very difficult task, given the high quality of the wines on offer. In this way, TAP is helping to promote fine domestic Portuguese wines. The quality of other winners in this American journal is a vindication of our selection,” said João Paulo Martins, chairman of the panel of experts and wine makers who prepare TAP’s annual wine list.

To judge its “blind tasting” competition, Global Traveler selected a 36-strong panel that included sommeliers, wine retailers and wine producers, who judged five different wines submitted by participating airlines – two reds, two whites and one sparkling.
