Swissport becomes the first and so far only aviation service provider member of the German Aviation Association BDL

Opfikon, Switzerland, 2014-10-29 — /Travel PR News/ — Swissport International (Swissport) joins the German Aviation Association (BDL) as per January 1, 2015. Swissport is thus the first and so far only aviation service provider of BDL. With its accession, Swissport emphasizes its commitment to a strong aviation industry in Germany.

On October 15, 2014, the BDL approved the application for membership of Swissport, the world´s largest provider of ground and cargo handling services in the aviation industry. The BDL advocates the opening-up of markets coupled with fair competition in the aviation industry, which is the basis for a positive economic development of the business location Germany, and thus the creation and safeguarding of jobs. Within various working groups such as strategy and politics, infrastructure or safety and security, Swissport for example wants to promote the creation of tariff and legal labor and social standards or as well as investments in climate and environmental protection.

Philipp Joeinig, Swissports EVP Central and Eastern Europe, about the membership: “A strong business location such as Germany plays a central role in international aviation in terms of mobility. As a driving force in the European Union it represents a guarantee for economic growth in Europe. With our accession to the BDL, we want to play our part in ensuring that airport infrastructure in Germany continues to meet the growing demands brought forward by increased mobility, and as such enable the whole world economy to benefit.”
