Spirit Airlines Announces Nonstop Service from Minneapolis-St. Paul to Three New Cities: Dallas/Fort Worth, Fort Lauderdale and Fort Myers

Miramar, Florida, 2012-07-20 — /travelprnews.com/ — Spirit Airlines (NASDAQ: SAVE) today announced it is adding nonstop ultra low fare service to three new cities from Minneapolis-St. Paul, including Dallas/Fort Worth, Fort Lauderdale and Fort Myers.

    • Daily nonstop seasonal service between Minneapolis-St. Paul and Fort Lauderdale starts November 8, 2012 and runs through April 24, 2013.
    • Daily nonstop seasonal service between Minneapolis-St. Paul and Fort Myers starts November 8, 2012 and runs through April 24, 2013.
    • Spirit will offer four weekly nonstop flights between Minneapolis-St. Paul and Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) beginning April 25, 2013, with service increasing to daily on June 13, 2013.

“We are committed to saving our customers money on travel by offering them the lowest fares,” says Spirit’s Chief Marketing Officer Barry Biffle. “Now travelers from the Twin Cities have easy access to our super low fares to two of Florida’s popular sunny destinations during the winter season, as well as an affordable choice to Dallas/Fort Worth.”

“I am very pleased that Spirit has already decided to expand its presence at Minneapolis-St. Paul International, less than two months after launching its inaugural service to this airport from Chicago and Las Vegas,” said Jeff Hamiel, executive director/chief executive officer of the Metropolitan Airports Commission. “The addition of these three cities to Spirit’s route schedule is important not only because it provides low-cost, non-stop service to three popular warm-weather destinations, but also because it provides one-stop service to much of Spirit’s domestic and international route network. From Dallas/Fort Worth, travelers can catch flights on Spirit to destinations on both U.S. coasts. Fort Lauderdale is a major Spirit hub for flights to the East Coast, as well as to dozens of cities in South America, Mexico and the Caribbean. The new service essentially adds more low-cost options for flying between Minneapolis-St. Paul and destinations throughout the Americas.”

Spirit currently offers its ultra low fares with nonstop service from Minneapolis-St. Paul to Chicago and Las Vegas.
