SINGAPORE, 2016-Aug-19 — /Travel PR News/ — Singapore Airlines (SIA) will treat 10 students from Metta School to a joyride in supercars on Saturday 20 August, in conjunction with the Light Up The Night Carnival organised by the Airline in the lead-up to this year’s FORMULA 1 SINGAPORE AIRLINES SINGAPORE GRAND PRIX.
Metta School is a programme supported by Community Chest, which SIA has supported for many years. It is a special education school that caters to students with mild intellectual disability and/or mild autism spectrum disorders aged between seven and 21 years old.
The convoy, led by local enthusiast group Scuderia FSG, will be flagged off at Changi Airport Terminal 3 at 9.30am. The two-and–a-half hour ride will see participants parading in the supercars in the heartlands of Singapore before arriving at the Carnival, which is to be held at the F1 Pit Building.
The third instalment of the Light Up The Night Carnival on 20 August is open to members of the public and will be held at the F1 Pit Building along Republic Boulevard from 12pm to 9pm. Admission is free. Dr Koh Poh Koon, Minister of State, Ministry of National Development & Ministry of Trade and Industry, will grace the event as Guest of Honour.
Motorsports enthusiasts can look forward to exhilarating stunt performances and displays of supercars, a Ferrari track car and a McLaren P1 hypercar. In addition, participants can try their hand at changing a race car tyre at Singapore GP’s Pit Stop Challenge.
The Carnival will also feature exciting activities for the family, including a LEGO play zone, bouncy castle, giant Jenga game and much more. Visitors can also expect exciting performances from aerialist acrobats for the finale in the evening.
SIA F1® merchandise including limited edition SIA A350 1:200 aircraft models in the 2016 F1® livery, race car swimming floats for kids, polo tees and bears in pit crew overalls will be available for purchase at the Carnival. In addition, F1® fans will be able to purchase tickets for the 2016 FORMULA 1 SINGAPORE AIRLINES SINGAPORE GRAND PRIX at exclusive rates, as well as race merchandise, at the Carnival.
Singapore Airlines is the title sponsor of the FORMULA 1 SINGAPORE GRAND PRIX. The Airline, which is a longstanding supporter of sports in Singapore, has been the Title Sponsor of the race since 2014.
