Promising young employees award “The Egon Steigenberger Prize” won by Josina Ingrassia and Carola Födisch

2013-09-13 — /travelprnews.com/ — The traditional approach adopted by the Frankfurt-based Steigenberger Hotel Group has always been to put staff at the very heart of its business. Initial and continuing training and the fostering of up-and-coming talent are also important objectives. The Egon Steigenberger Prize, an award given to promising young employees, was instigated for this very reason in 1986. The prize itself comprises €5,000 of funding, which enables winners to complete a high-quality course of continuing training at the St. Gallen SGMI Management Institute in Switzerland.

This year’s prize winner in the Hotel Category is Josina Ingrassia, Junior Regional Sales Manager at the Regional Sales Office South in Stuttgart. Following initial vocational education and training in the occupation of specialist in the hotel business at the Hotel Le Méridien Stuttgart, during which she also completed an additional qualification in management, 25-year old Josina Ingrassia initially began her career as a Banquet Sales Coordinator at the same establishment in 2010. She was quickly promoted to the position of Field Marketing Coordinator before joining Steigenberger Hotels AG as a Junior Regional Sales Manager in October 2012. Since this time, she has been based at the Regional Sales Office South in Stuttgart.

Carola Födisch (26), Assistant Event Manager at the Steigenberger Hotel Linz, was able to win over the jury in the F&B Category. Prior to her move to Austria, Ms. Födisch trained in the occupation of specialist in the hotel business at the Steigenberger Esplanade in Jena. She made the move to the Steigenberger Hotel Linz at the start of 2013 to take up the role of Assistant Event & Group Manager. Since May 2013, Carola Födisch has been Assistant Event Manager at the hotel.

The Egon Steigenberger Prize is awarded in the specialist areas of “Hotel” and “F&B”. Following a multi-stage selection procedure, twelve candidates qualified for this year’s final, which was held at the Steigenberger Frankfurter Hof from 5 to 6 September 2013. Participants were evaluated using an assessment centre and individual interviews and were convincingly able to demonstrate their skills and managerial potential to a high calibre jury comprising senior management staff from Steigenberger Hotels AG and Christine Steigenberger.

The young candidates were nominated for participation in the Egon Steigenberger Prize by their own hotel directors. Following the competition, all twelve candidates who qualified for the final will be entering the group’s management training programme, where they will spend the next twelve months preparing to assume a management position.

“On behalf of the Board, I would like to send my warmest congratulations to the winners of the Egon Steigenberger Prize”, said Puneet Chhatwal, CEO of Steigenberger Hotels AG. “Furthering the development of high-potential staff is a central component of our corporate philosophy and is something by which we set great store.”
