Palma de Mallorca, 2012-08-24 — /travelprnews.com/ — The Hotel Gran Meliá Don Pepe in Marbella hosted the social event of the summer on 19 August: The Global Gift Gala-Marbella. The Gala featured the actress and philanthropist Eva Longoria as hostess of honor and was attended by numerous celebrities from the world of culture, entertainment and sport, such as the actor Amaury Nolasco and the model Mar Saura, the Gala presenters, the Dutch actress and model Sylvie Van der Vaart, the actor Terrence Howard and sports representatives such as Vicente del Bosque and David Meca, among others.
The swimming pool and the gardens of the Gran Meliá Don Pepe for one night became a luxury enclave to host one of the most have-to-be-there events this summer. The chef Dani Garcia, who has two Michelin stars and whose restaurant Calima is located in the hotel, wanted to join this charity initiative, with the chef Diego del Río, by putting together a special menu, for those attending The Global Gift Gala. This menu was composed of: My first Yogurt, Cheese – Quince – Sun-dried Tomatoes, Caviar Cream with Dates and Bacon, Fondo Rocoso (prawn omelet), ‘Nitro’ Tomato from Coín with Cod, Ajoblanco (cold garlic and almond soup) with Mackerel, Peppermint and Grapes, MarbellaWhiting in Roteña broth, Oxtail stewed and wrapped in Ravioli with Vegetable Tabouleh and the dessert, La luna llena de Marbella.
The Gran Meliá Don Pepe is located very close to the center of Marbella, next to the beach, at the foot of the Sierra Blanca Natural Park. Vicente del Bosque, the Spanish national soccer team coach, was given the Global Gift Humanitarian Award by the Eva Longoria Foundation for his philanthropic work. Saad Azzam, General Manager of Gran Meliá Don Pepe, was given the “We Believe in People” award by Romeo Britto for supporting the gala and Dani García was also recognized for his contribution to the dinner. On the other hand, the actor from Malaga Antonio Banderas was awarded with the Global Gift Excellence and he sent a gratitude message to all attendees. Three prominent artists from the Spanish music scene, Chenoa, Diana Navarro and Pastora Soler also wanted to contribute to the Gala with their musical performances.
This year, Eva Longoria and María Bravo opted once again for a great charity project in order to raise the most funds for the 3 NGOs selected: The Eva Longoria Foundation, the Cesare Scariolo Foundation, whose primary mission is to assist children with cancer and their families, and the Málaga Football Club Foundation.
The Hotel Gran Meliá Don Pepe wanted to join this noble initiative by hosting a Gala that brought together in a single event the resources, organizations and brands able to foster a transformative effect worldwide.
