Neil Mills named Chief Transformation Officer at airberlin

BERLIN, Germany, 2017-Apr-06 — /Travel PR News/ — Neil Mills, currently Chief Strategy & Planning Officer at airberlin, will take up the new post of Chief Transformation Officer with immediate effect and lead a newly created division which will work across the whole airline to strengthen the overall performance of the company.

airberlin’s CEO Thomas Winkelmann said: “This new role is another step forward in the transformation of airberlin. We have, so far, made good progress implementing the strategy of new airberlin which will see 38 aircraft wet-leased to the Lufthansa Group, carving out leisure  flying and allowing us to focus our fleet of 75 planes in developing our hubs at Berlin and Dusseldorf, as well as on key European cities.

“Some 25 of the 38 wet-leased aircraft have so far been delivered on time to the Lufthansa subsidiaries Eurowings and Austrian Airlines.  Leisure flying has been operated by NIKI since last weekend when the aviation industry’s summer schedule started.

“Neil, an internationally experienced and influential aviation executive, will now address and remedy historic challenges for our new core business as we target delivering significant efficiency and productivity gains to improve our market position on a sustained basis.”

Neil Mills joined airberlin a year ago. He started his aviation career at easyJet in 1997 and in 2009  became the Chief Financial Officer at Fly Dubai. Neil then assumed the position of Chief Executive Officer at the Indian airline Spice Jet and, as Chief Executive Advisor, played a decisive role in the turnaround of the Philippine Airlines Group.
