Iceland’s WOW air to launch affordable transatlantic flights from Pittsburgh International Airport

PITTSBURGH, 2016-Nov-10 — /Travel PR News/ — Following a successful year of new flight destinations from North America, one of Europe’s fastest growing airlines WOW air will continue to offer easy and low-cost ways for Americans to travel to Europe by soon adding Pittsburgh to the growing list of destinations.

The affordable transatlantic airline will begin nonstop flights from Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT) to Iceland for as low as $99* one-way including taxes. For only $149.99*, travellers can continue their trip to WOW air’s other European destinations including London, Frankfurt, Berlin, Paris and Dublin.

Tickets go on sale today, November 7, 2016.

Service from PIT to and from Iceland will start at four days a week with connecting flights on to other available European destinations. The inaugural flight from Pittsburgh will be on June 16, 2017.

WOW air’s continued development across the United States follows the successful launch of transatlantic services from 21 European destinations the east coast in early 2015 and the start of service this summer from San Francisco and Los Angeles, with fares as low as $99 including taxes. The existing U.S. services now operates year-round and maintains consistent carrier loads of 90 percent plus.

“We are excited to once again have year-round transatlantic service with easy access to Europe,” Allegheny County Airport Authority CEO Christina Cassotis said. “We are honored to be the seventh U.S. market selected by WOW for service to the airline’s more than 20 international destinations.”

The new PIT route will be serviced by the A321 aircraft, which will each carry 220 passengers in a single-class configuration. Seat pitch will vary from 30 inches as standard to 34 inches at an additional charge.
