With the start of the summer season 2017, the Group  Iberia  incorporate new destinations to its network, strengthen its offerings in some of its long – haul routes and operating model changes in others.

As of March 26, the airline will begin flying to Basel with a daily flight, except Thursdays. The Swiss city becomes the third destination of Iberia in this country, whose area of influence extends from southwestern Germany and northeastern France. About 60,000 seats will be available on this route in 2017.

Meanwhile,  Iberia Express  will fly to Cardiff, Wales, and Cagliari in Sardinia, during the summer months.

In the long haul, Iberia will offer 22 percent of seats on the route to  Quito, the program six flights weekly, direct both ways, with the largest aircraft in its fleet. It will also increase capacity to  Medellin, where he will fly three times a week, direct both the outward and the return; the airline will continue to operate to  Guayaquil and  Cali  through code sharing agreements with other airlines.

Puerto Rico  is one of the countries in which Iberia will increase its offer. Since March 27, will resume flights between Madrid and San Juan with three frequencies a week, on Mondays, Fridays and Saturdays. More than 52,500 seats on this route will be offered, about 31 percent more than the summer of 2016. On route to  Buenos Aires, moreover, Iberia maintains two daily flights throughout the year, an increase of 16.3 percent seats.

On the other hand, the company is studying expand its current offer with City of  Mexico, where offers two daily flights, and add three weekly frequencies.

Iberia will also reinforce its offer to the destinations offered in the summer months. In  Dubrovnik, it will grow by 25 percent, and  Zagreb  by 54 percent. Between Madrid and  Budapest, the airline will offer 27 percent more capacity, while  Catania  and  Funchal, the increase will be 38 and 11 percent, respectively.

Cork, Edinburgh, Keflavik, Oslo, St. Petersburg and Santorini again be present at the Iberia network during the summer months. Also, routes started this year will remain  Shanghai,  Tokyo  and  Johannesburg .

Among the new summer season, is also the launch of the new class  Economy Premium  on long – haul flights.Wider and comfortable seats, greater separation between seats, individual screens of 13 inches, an improved, plus an extra suitcase in excess checked baggage are the main features of this new class will be available in some destinations catering service Iberia in South America and the United States from next summer.
