HMSHost brings game-day dining experience to Canadian travellers

Edmonton, AB 2017-Jan-29 — /Travel PR News/ —  Ready, set, eat – Edmonton Eskimos Sports Bar, an exclusive new full-service dining venue by global restaurateur HMSHost is now open at Edmonton International Airport’s Domestic-International Departures Lounge. The restaurant and bar offers travellers an electric dining experience featuring game day-inspired cuisine and a festive venue celebrating the Eskimos storied history in the Canadian Football League. A grand opening was celebrated with Edmonton Eskimos, HMSHost, and Edmonton International Airport representatives, along with the Eskimos players and cheerleaders.

“We are thrilled to partner with Edmonton International Airport and the Edmonton Eskimos to bring travellers this unique dining experience that spotlights Edmontonians love of one of the most successful teams in CFL history,” said HMSHost Vice President of Business Development Kent Vanden Oever. “With great food and drinks along with a fun sports atmosphere, Edmonton Eskimos Sports Bar is the perfect stop for travelling fans that will have them cheering all the way to their gate.”

“This new Edmonton Eskimos Sports Bar is a means for us to extend our Green and Gold brand to our loyal fans when they are traveling. Such an endeavor is contingent upon having strong partners such as HMSHost and EIA. We could not be more excited,” said Eskimos President and CEO Len Rhodes.

Throughout the Edmonton Eskimos Sports Bar, adorned in the team’s green and gold colours, the fourteen-time Grey Cup champions memorabilia is on full-display, along with murals that showcase the Eskimos seasons. Travelling fans are never far from the action on the gridiron as large televisions are found throughout the restaurant where guests can gather to take in the game while relaxing with a drink from a broad selection of beers, wine, and crafty cocktails such as the Grey Cup with Grey Goose vodka, dry vermouth, green olives, and a lemon twist, and the Green Gimlet with Hendrick’s Gin, simple syrup, cucumber water, cucumber wheel, and lime.

“This partnership with HMSHost and the Edmonton Eskimos is sure to be a crowd pleaser for our passengers,” said Tom Ruth, EIA President and CEO. “We have a long history of collaborating with the Eskimos, and HMSHost has done an incredible job with this restaurant, so we’re proud to offer our passengers this unique, first-of-its-kind, family-friendly dining option.”

While dining on Edmonton Eskimos Sports Bar’s food and drinks, travellers can relax by the floor to ceiling windows that overlook the apron for perfect plane spotting. On the menu line-up, guests can choose from all-day dining options that won’t leave them sitting on the sidelines. The restaurant features appetizers that are a nod to game-day favourites like the Green & Gold Nachos and Championship Wings.

On those cold Alberta days, warm up with the Gameday Chilli featuring chunks of ancho infused beef, sour cream, green onions, and garlic bread. Enjoy other favourites such as the Smoked Ribs, Lobster Roll, and the Kickoff Salad that includes bacon, chicken, blue cheese, and tomato accompanied with avocado dressing.

For travellers with early morning flights, the Edmonton Eskimos Sports Bar has you covered so you can kick your day off straight through the uprights. Start the day with a variety of options like the Green and Gold Omelette – a three egg omelette with smoked cheddar, provolone, and potatoes – or go for the Coaches’ Parfait of Greek yogurt with granola, fresh fruit, and maple syrup.

For ultimate convenience, there is a dedicated to-go area perfect for travellers with tighter timeframes to conveniently pick up a juice, soda, or water on the way to their flight.
