Hilton Brisbane Sponsors World-First Exhibition – ‘Portrait Of Spain: Masterpieces From The Prado’

BRISBANE, Australia, 2012-08-10 — /travelprnews.com/ — Hilton Brisbane has affirmed its place in Brisbane’s thriving cultural scene, partnering with Queensland Art Gallery | Gallery of Modern Art for the world-first ‘Portrait of Spain: Masterpieces from the Prado’ exhibition.

The landmark exhibition marks the third partnership between two of the city’s leading icons – hotel and gallery – with Hilton Brisbane recognized as a major tourism sponsor hosting international dignitaries and special guests throughout the three-month exhibition.

‘Portrait of Spain: Masterpieces from the Prado’ has been specially curated for the Queensland Art Gallery by the Museo Nacional del Prado, Madrid (the Prado). It is the largest and most significant international loan the Prado has ever undertaken, and is also the first exhibition from their collection ever to be shown in the Southern Hemisphere.

Hilton Brisbane general manager Martin Kendall said he is delighted by the ongoing partnership following recent and successful exhibitions including Matisse: Drawing Life and Modern Woman: Daughters and Lovers, reinforcing the hotel’s position as a unique and inspiring destination.

“We are honored to be part of this historic exhibition. The alignment with two world-class galleries reflects the Hilton’s underlying commitment to supporting the cultural fabric of Brisbane,” Mr Kendall said.

“The synergies between the Queensland Art Gallery | Gallery of Modern Art and Hilton Brisbane, one of the only Australian hotel’s designed by Harry Seidler, are numerous – the appreciation for fine art, exceptional design and a distinct sense of place.

“Furthermore, it is the stories woven into history books and told through this impressive collection that we are most excited about sharing with Brisbane and indeed our guests,” he said.

Exclusive to Brisbane, the exhibition is showing from July 21 to November 4, 2012 and features over 100 masterpieces from one of the most revered collections of European painting in the world and the exhibition tells the story of the evolution of painting in Spain over three and a half centuries.

In partnership with the Queensland Art Gallery | Gallery of Modern Art the hotel invites guests to see this landmark exhibition with the Prado Minibreak. The package includes overnight accommodation for two in a refurbished Hilton guest room, breakfast the following morning in the hotel’s ‘Chefs Hatted’ restaurant Vintaged Bar + Grill and two tickets to the exhibition, from $271 AUD per room per night, twin share*.
