Heathrow Airport: Games media update – Wednesday 25th July

2012-07-25 — /travelprnews.com/ — A busy day at the airport with 218,000 passengers expected in the terminals – 101,000 of which are arrivals. It’s also another very busy day for Olympic arrivals – with nearly 3700 members of the Games Family* expected at Heathrow.

Passengers at Terminal 5 will be treated to a rendition of ‘Chariots of Fire’ played by classical pianist Myleene Klass on a grand piano in international arrivals. Myleene will be performing at 10.30, 13.00 and 14.30.

Weather at Heathrow is expected to be dry and clear.

Media rooms are now open in all of our terminals together with media assistants to help with enquiries. The rooms all have free Wi-Fi and ISDN facilities for journalists. There are also media zones by each terminal’s arrivals barrier for media to wait for arriving Games competitors. Any media wishing to work at Heathrow between 11th July and 12th September should register at www.heathrowairport.com/media2012. Passes should be picked up at media rooms when media arrive each day.

*Games Family includes athletes, coaches, officials and accredited media

As Official Host Airport for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, Heathrow will facilitate the journeys of around 80 per cent of the several hundred thousand spectators expected to attend the Games as well as more than 10,000 athletes.

It will be business as usual for 19 million passengers expected to use the airport to travel for business, fly home or on holiday between July and September. The airport has therefore put a number of initiatives in place to bring the excitement and visual spectacle of the Olympics directly to them.

A full schedule of all planned events can be found by visiting:

Media with London 2012 accreditation during the Games period will be entitled to free Heathrow Express travel – just show your pass on board the train.
