Furry February Fun at ZooAmerica

Guests Enjoy Chocolate-Themed Events, Teddy Bears and Discounts 

Hershey, Pa., 2013-01-22 — /travelprnews.com/ — ZooAmerica North American Wildlife Park participates in Hershey’s month-long, destination-wide celebration of all things chocolate, Chocolate-Covered February, throughout the month of February. In addition to chocolate-themed events, the Zoo hosts a teddy bear clinic and offers Friday discounts. All special events and activities are free with the Zoo’s regular admission and include:

Chocolate-Covered February Activities
In celebration of Chocolate-Covered FebruaryZooAmerica offers chocolate-themed events on weekends in February. Guests visiting the Zoo on Saturdays can see four featured Zoo animals receive “mock-late” treats at 1 p.m. The “Wild Winter Treats” act as an enrichment activity and encourage natural behavior while keeping Zoo residents happy and entertained. Featured animals include river otters on February 2, gray wolves on February 9, American martens on February 16 and ocelots on February 26.

On Sundays at 1 p.m., ZooAmerica offers “Chocolate Animal Painting” demonstrations for children ages 12 and younger. Participants can see one of the Zoo’s talented skunk artists walk across a canvas to create chocolate-colored animal art. Guests also can create their own set of artistic tracks to take home. Teddy Bear Day
On Sunday, February 10,  ZooAmerica will hold its “Teddy Bear Day” event to celebrate bears and make repairs to children’s “injured” teddy bears and stuffed animals from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event includes a Teddy Bear Repair Clinic where Penn State College of Medicine veterinarians and Zoo staff provide proper diagnosis and care as they administer minor repairs to stuffed patients. Guests also can see equipment used by Zoo staff to care for its animals.

Additional activities include a bear-themed storybook reading at 11:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.; an American black bear talk at 1:30 p.m., followed by a Teddy Bear Parade with Zoo mascot, Ranger Scratch, and friends including Coco the Bear, the official mascot of the Hershey Bears, and Hershey’s Product Characters; a teddy bear craft station in the Southern Swamps; and a teddy bear scavenger hunt throughout the Zoo.

$5 Fridays
ZooAmerica continues to offer “$5 Fridays” throughout the month of February, when admission to the Zoo is just $5 plus tax for all guests (regular admission is $10.50*, juniors and seniors are $8.50*, and children ages 2 and under are always free). “$5 Fridays” continues through Friday, March 22.
