Four Seasons Hotel Washington DC Gears Up for 32nd Annual Sprint Four the Cure on September 29, 2012 to Benefit the Cancer Institute at MedStar Washington Hospital Center

Washington, DC, U.S.A., 2012-08-31 — /travelprnews.com/ — Four Seasons Hotel Washington DC will be hosting its 32nd Annual Sprint Four the Cure 5K run and walk on Saturday, September 29, 2012 – the second of two major fundraising events held this year benefitting the Cancer Institute at MedStar Washington Hospital Center.

This year’s run is especially near and dear to the hearts ofFour Seasons staff. It has been renamed to Andrea Kauffman Sprint Four the Cure in memory of a former employee who was diagnosed with cancer and lost her battle in November 2010. “We are very proud to have renamed our run after Andrea, who was an extremely talented pastry chef and touched the lives of many people around her. She is another reminder of the importance of finding a cure for cancer,” states Christian Clerc, regional vice president and general manager.

Andrea Kauffman Sprint Four the Cure starts at Four Seasons Hotel Washington, following along the scenic C&O Canal and ending back at the Hotel. This 5K run and walk is a family-friendly event created to have fun while raising funds for cancer research. The entry fee is USD 35.00 before September 22 and USD 40.00 after; this price is inclusive of a t-shirt, raffle ticket for a chance to win up to 20 door prizes, and a breakfast buffet. Students can enjoy a discounted rate of USD 25.00 for participating and children ages 3-9 of registered participants can run the kids’ 100-yard dash for free.

Sports reporter Britt McHenry from ABC 7 will emcee the event along with The Tommy Show cast, Tommy McFly, Kelly Collis and Jen Richer of 94.7 Fresh FM. The morning will begin with registration at 7:00 am, the kids’ 100-yard dash starts at 7:45 am followed by the runners 8:00 am. After the race, participants will enjoy a hot and cold breakfast buffet, complimentary massages and an awards ceremony. The top three male and female finishers will be recognized and awarded prizes. The first place winners receive a weekend getaway at five star resorts located in South Carolina, The Inn at Palmetto Bluff and The Sanctuary at Kiawah Island.

Two grand prize raffles will also be available for purchase: Discover Dallas and Experience Qatar in Style. Raffle tickets for the Discover Dallas raffle cost USD 15.00 per ticket, USD 60.00 for five tickets or USD 100.00 for ten tickets. The price for the Experience Qatar in Style raffle is USD 300.00 per ticket.
