Voting is open from June 11 at facebook.com/britishairways with a pair of tickets to the event up for grabs.

Silent Picturehouse is being held in association with the airline’s partner the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) and supported by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures.

Abigail Comber, British Airways head of marketing, said: “Silent Picturehouse is back by popular demand, and this time we’ve extended it to a week including a daytime kids cinema. There’s something for everyone, with movies ranging from blockbuster hits to all time classics.  The unique concept brings the in-flight entertainment experience to life, making you feel like you’ve travelled the world from your seat!”

By day the venue transforms into ‘Silent Picturehouse Kids’, showing a selection of Disney films for children across the five screens, including; Up, Cars 2, Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland, Oz the Great and Powerful, The Muppets and a preview clip of the upcoming release of Planes.

Tickets start from £7.50 and include entry to the screening rooms, plus food and drink. Bookings can be made at ba.com/silentpicturehouse from Monday 24 June.

Inspired by travel and film, the venue will be completely overhauled to create a dramatic setting, complete with movie memorabilia and travel artefacts to enrich the viewing experience – so that guests feel like they’ve stepped inside a film set. The in-flight menu features gourmet popcorn, lip-licking hot dogs and retro pick ‘n’ mix, produced by Michelin star chef Simon Hulstone. Guests will also be treated to Tattinger champagne and cocktails from the movies.

Presenter Edith Bowman, said: “I was involved in the very first Silent Picturehouse in 2010, and I’m delighted that British Airways is bringing it back. Watching films is one the great pleasures of flying, and bringing this experience to the ground promises to be a lot of fun.

“It’s also a great event to take your kids along to during the summer holidays, showing everyone’s favourite Disney films during the day.”

Amanda Berry, Chief Executive of BAFTA said: “We’re excited to see the return of Silent Picturehouse, it’s a fantastic event, real celebration of film and a great example of our working together to create something very special. From the minute guests arrive they are immersed in a surreal and unique cinematic experience.”

The event runs daily from Monday 22 July until Friday 26 July, with Silent Picturehouse Kids performances from 12.30-4pm, and Silent Picturehouse matinee performances from 6-11pm.
