Alta Ski Area publishes its annual fall 2015 Sustainability Update

Alta, Utah, 2015-11-16 — /Travel PR News/ — Alta Ski Area makes significant strides in sustainability. As the ski area enters its 78th season the employees are pleased to release their annual fall 2015 Sustainability Update. Building off the 2011 Sustainability Report this update highlights stewardship efforts led by the Alta Environmental Center (AEC) as well as energy and vegetation projects within the company. The report likewise updates patrons on the ski area’s progress pursuing their 20% greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction goal by 2020 with the National Ski Areas Association Climate Challenge program.

“We are pleased with our progress so far and I give great thanks to my co-workers, partners and supporters. We cannot have a mission of sustainability nor a carbon reduction goal without their active involvement,” notes Maura Olivos, AEC Sustainability Coordinator. In order to meet their reduction goal, Alta’s General Manager – Onno Wieringa and Sustainability Coordinator recognize the weight in working with their community as a whole and publicly sharing the ski area’s efforts and tribulations. The ski area plans to release an annual update through 2020, when they will revisit their 20% reduction goal and put together a thorough report.

The ski area encourages you to visit the Alta Environmental Center website and read the 2015 Fall Sustainability Update to learn more and welcomes feedback and inquiry.
