2012-07-25 — /travelprnews.com/ — It is set to become the ‘Henman Hill’ of the Games, and yesterday (24 July) ‘Park Live Presented by British Airways’ was tried and tested by hundreds of the airline’s staff and volunteers.
BA Lawn Captains, who will be performing dance routines on the lawns, tested their moves while wearing giant wings.
Park Live is set in the centre of the wetland bowl, within the newly created 250-acre Olympic Park. It will be the place for spectators to go during the Games to watch the action on giant LED screens and see the athletes interviewed on the BA Stage.
It can accommodate up to 10,000 visitors at any given time. Visitors can expect a lively atmosphere with sing-a-longs, dance routines and prize give-aways during intervals.
The screens, each three times the height of a double decker bus, will broadcast non-stop footage of live action from the BBC and Channel 4 during the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games respectively.
To mark the first day of the equestrian dressage events this Saturday 28 July, the airline is hosting its very own ‘Ladies Day’ at Park Live. The best hat of the day will be rewarded with a pair of British Airways flights!
British Airways Park Live Manager, Adam Juniper said: “It’s great to see Park Live up and running so efficiently. It has been really important to get the presenters, the BA Hosts and our teams to come down here today and test everything in preparation for the tens of thousands of visitors we expect.”
The main focal point, the BA stage, was tested for its durability and weather resistance and its acoustics were given the once over by the Park Live presenters; Matthew Lorenzo, Graham Rogers and Jo Pickard who will be entertaining the crowds and interviewing guests daily.
British Airways staff who will take the part of hosts come from right across the airline including cabin crew, engineers, pilots and airport staff and will be looking after visitors come rain or shine. Many of them were also invited to test out the lawns and familiarise themselves with the space, so they can advise guests on the best spots for a picnic and superior vantage points for photos come Games time.
Park Live presented by British Airways opens on Saturday 28 July, and is free to access daily between 7am and 11pm for all Olympic Park ticket holders.
