Airports Company South Africa announces the appointment of Refentse Shinners as the new Group Executive Corporate Affairs

Johannesburg, 2015-3-26 — /Travel PR News/ — Airports Company South Africa is pleased to announce the appointment of Refentse Shinners as the new Group Executive: Corporate Affairs. The position is a newly created role for Airports Company South Africa following the company’s leadership realignment earlier last year.

Shinners joins the company from South African Breweries where she was Corporate Affairs Manager for the SAB North Region.

Shinners has extensive experience in reputation management, stakeholder relations management, enterprise development and corporate social investment. She holds a National Diploma and a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Relations Management from the Cape Peninsula University of Technology. She also has a certificate in New Venture Creation from the Wits Business School and SAB’s Management Development Programme from the University of Cape Town’s Graduate School of Business, as well as a certificate for the SABMiller Corporate Affairs Leadership Programme from Cambridge University’s Judge Business School.

Shinners is part of the Airports Company South Africa executive committee and reports directly to company CEO, Bongani Maseko. Her immediate task would be to ensure a smooth transition from the old Communications and Brand Management Division to Corporate Affairs, which is a new division in the company.

Commenting on her appointment, Maseko says: “We are pleased to welcome Refentse to the company. She brings a wealth of experience and valuable know-how. I am confident that she will provide strategic insight and counsel as we build an efficient and customer-focused company.  She will play a critical role in our efforts to enhance strong relations with key stakeholders in order to entrench the accessibility and credibility of the company’s leadership and voice”.

Shinners sits on the Board of Footballers for Life, an NGO that provides wellness programmes and life skills coaching for footballers. She is also part of the Board of Advisors for Africa Innovative Publishing.

“I look forward to this new challenge and playing a role in enhancing Airport Company South Africa’s already sound reputation. I am excited about joining the business and especially at such an interesting time for the company and where it’s heading in the near future. The corporate affairs function is continually evolving. It is now at the heart of the delivery of organisational strategy, values and vision. It is no longer limited to public relations and public affairs. Corporate affairs divisions tend to have the most impact when they are aligned with the company’s vision and objectives,” Shinners says.
